Ailsa Bay

Established as recently as 2007, Ailsa Bay is a relatively new brand of Lowland whisky. It is owned by William Grant & Sons, and based on the same site as Girvan – on the Clyde coast. Though originally set up to contribute to Grants blends, it also offers own name bottlings and is responsible for launching Aerstone. 

With eight stills helping to create four different styles, Ailsa Bay is nothing if not versatile. They create sweet, malty and smokey whiskies, using modern technology and data throughout the process. In 2019, they even used blockchain to protect one of their releases. 

The first single malt release was a peated expression in 2016. This was shortly followed by a second release, the Sweet Smoke 1.2.
