Cragganmore

Cragganmore is a Speyside distillery located in the small village of Ballindalloch. It was founded in 1869 by the renowned John Smith and was the first distillery to really take advantage of the railway, being based alongside the Strathspey route. Cragganmore stayed within the Smith family until the 1920s, when it was sold to White Horse. This has since become part of Diageo.

The distillery takes a classic approach to whisky production, and mainly uses ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks for maturation. It has become known for creating well-balanced and subtly sweet single malts, with notes of honey, apple and a gentle smokiness.

Cragganmore is part of Diageo’s Classic Malts range. The only permanent official expression is the 12 year old, a sweet and sherried offering that’s full of classic Speyside flavours. The Distillers Editions also provide an alternative insight into this brand, a series that aims to show a different side of traditional whiskies.
