Craigellachie

Craigellachie is a Speyside distillery with a history that dates back to the late 19th century. Designed by Charles Doig, who was an architect for at least 55 other Scotch distilleries, it was founded in 1891 by Alexander Edward as a contributor to blends. The distillery has seen a number of ownership changes, but was last acquired by Bacadi from Diageo in 1998.

The original purpose of Craigellachie was to provide spirit for blended whiskies; something that remained the case until 2014, when a trio of single malts were released. The style is robust and meaty, with undertones of smoke, spicy and tropical fruit.

Their flagship bottling is the Craigellachie 13, although 17, 19 and 23 year old expressions are also available. If you’re looking for some interesting finishes, the Cask Collection provides some different takes on Scotch whisky, including this Armanac finished malt.
