Crown Royal

Crown Royal is a world-famous brand of blended Canadian whisky. It was launched in 1939 by Samuel Bronfman, who was then the owner of another well-known brand from Canada; Seagram’s.

Its story begins when King George VI and Queen Elizabeth visited the country, the first reigning monarchs ever to do so. To commemorate the event, Bronfman produced a superior blend of approximately 50 whiskies to be presented to the royals as a gift. This proved to be a springboard, eventually leading to its release in the US in the 1960s.

Crown Royal Canadian Blended Whisky uses five mash bills, 12 column stills and grain from nearby Manitoba. It’s then aged in charred oak barrels until ready for bottling. It’s incredibly smooth, with notes of vanilla cream and oak. In 2015, they added Northern Harvest Rye to their range, which is made up of 90% rye. It’s indulgently sweet and creamy, with just a subtle undertone of spice.

Crown Royal remains the best-selling Canadian whisky, continuing to impress with its easy-drinking profile.
