Glendalough

Glendalough is a craft Irish distillery in County Wicklow. It was launched in 2011 by a group of friends who wanted to bring an independent Irish whiskey to market. The bottle shows the image of St Kevin, who founded a monastic settlement in the Glendalough Valley in the 6th century, and it’s his story that inspires the brand.

The distillery was officially opened in 2013, and while they waited for their single malt to mature, they blended whiskey from the Cooley Distillery – who make Kilbeggan, amongst other brands. Their core range now includes the Glendalough Double Barrel, and a Single Malt Mizunara Cask Finish. The latter is the first Irish whiskey to be matured in Japanese oak and has notes of citrus, dark chocolate and sandalwood.

As well as whiskey, Glendalough also makes poitín and seasonal gin. The gin is made using locally foraged botanicals and is distilled slowly in small batches.
