Longmorn

Longmorn is a Speyside distillery based in Elgin. Official releases from here are limited, but independent bottlings are frequently available. The distillery is owned by Pernod Ricard and Chivas Brothers, and the majority of Longmorn is used in their products.

Despite being founded in 1894, the first Longmorn single malt wasn’t released for nearly 100 years, as output has historically been reserved for blends. A 15 year old expression hit shelves in 1993 and only a handful of bottles have followed.

Longmorn’s style is sweet, fruity and spicy. It is also full-bodied, which makes it perfect for maturing in ex-sherry and ex-bourbon barrels – a reason it’s favoured by blenders.

An underrated distillery that’s well worth exploring (if you can get your hands on a bottle!).
