Scapa

Scapa is a relatively small distillery on the Orkney mainland, just half a mile from Highland Park. It was founded in 1885 and uses a manual Lomond wash that was fitted in the 1950s.

Between 1997 and 2005, whisky production was limited to just a few months of the year and operated by staff from the Highland Park distillery. Pernod Ricard then became owners and commenced full production.

Scapa is soft and unpeated dram that’s known for its fruity, floral and honeyed qualities. The range is limited and aged expressions are best found from independent bottlers. Their flagship offering is the Skiren, a no age statement release that was added in 2015. It’s been aged in American oak and is full of vanilla and honey notes, as well as some salty sea air.
