Japanese single malt and blended are the two types of whisky produced in the country today, both taking influence from Scotch whiskies. The country’s pioneers studied the style of Scottish whisky closely to recreate the taste, and added some local flavour to make it their own. Japanese whisky tends to be dry and smoky, with oaky notes.
