Grain whisky is usually made from wheat or maize and blended with malt whisky from barley. It is usually sweeter, gentler and less complex than malt whisky. However, when artfully matured and allowed to age gracefully, it can produce outstanding Scotch whisky in its own right. Like single malt, single grain whisky does not have to be old to be enjoyed, especially when matured in interesting wood.
