Here we have the 2022 release of Macallan's 18 year old Sherry Oak. Spending its entire 18 years in sherry casks from Jerez, Spain. Always highly-sought after, The Macallan releases limited batches of this expression annually. This 2022 release has been bottled at a strength of 43% abv.

Nose

Dried fruits and ginger with hints of vanilla and cinnamon.

Palate

Soft and rich, with hints of spice, clove, orange, and toasted mature oak.

Finish

Lingering with dried fruits, ginger, and orange zest.

A Word About Macallan

Macallan was founded on a plateau above the river Spey in North East Scotland in 1824, and quality has been at the centre of the brand ever since. The Macallan was in fact one of the first distilleries in Scotland to be legally licensed, and since then the brand has built a reputation as one of the world's leading single malt whisky makers. The distillery is surrounded by a 485-acre estate, and the whisky really captures the atmosphere of the beautiful Scottish landscape and history of creating world-renowned whiskies.

Macallan whisky derives its iconic colour from the wooden casks in which it aged. Each tree used to make the casks will impart a slightly different flavour, making the individual bottles of Macallan whisky truly unique.

With up to 80% of the quality of Macallan's end product being down to the wood that the cask is made out, the brand takes the time to source the right materials. By working with a company in Spain, choosing the right oak trees, and creating casks out of them, the flavour of the Macallan whisky is created.
