Laphroaig

Alongside Ardbeg and Lagavulin, Laphroaig is one of a trio of heavily peated malt whiskies from Islay. The distillery was founded by Alexander and Donald Johnston in 1810 and started operations just five years later.

Whiskies from Laphroaig are known for their smoky, briny and medicinal character. This comes from the peat used to dry the barley. The use of ex-bourbon barrels in maturation imparts additional sweetness, while ex-sherry casks add more depth to some of the older expressions.

Laphroaig has an extensive range of aged, NAS and limited edition bottlings. The flagship release is the award-winning 10 Year Old, which first hit the market in 2004 and has that signature Islay flavour. Other popular bottles include the 16 Year Old, Lore, and Quarter Cask
