Old Ballantruan

Old Ballantruan is a brand of heavily-peated whisky by Tomintoul. Named after a nearby spring, which is the distillery’s source of water, Old Ballantruan was launched in 2005 and offers an uncharacteristically peaty take on the classic Speyside profile. 

Old Ballantruan is double distilled, using barley and peat from the local Speyside region. The spirit is then aged in American oak casks, before being bottled at 50% ABV. The result is a deep and earthy whisky, with smokey notes complimenting flavours of cream, malt and citrus. 

The entry-level bottling for this range is the no age statement Old Ballantruan Smokey Original, but 10 year old and 15 year old releases are also available.
