London Dry Gin

London Dry Gin is a style of gin that’s known for its juniper-forward flavour. Despite the name, it can be made anywhere in the world, and here at House of Malt, you’ll be able to find an excellent selection from the UK, New Zealand and even Scandinavia.

The popularity of this spirit grew during the gin craze of the 18th Century, and by the early 19th Century, London Dry developed as one of the leading varieties. This influence spread nationally and worldwide. 

There are two main differences between London Dry and other types of gin. Firstly, juniper must be the primary botanical. While the likes of coriander seed, angelica root and citrus may also be used, distilleries are looking to place that piney and peppery flavour front and centre. Secondly, little to no added sugar or sweeteners can be introduced. This results in a distinctive and classically clean profile that makes it perfect for cocktails.
