Drawn from some of the oldest sherry casks in Kilchoman’s warehouses, this 15 Year Old Sherry Cask Matured release is a standout in the 20th Anniversary Cask Series. Crafted from a selection of butts filled in 2008 and 2009, it reflects a deeper, more brooding side of Kilchoman’s coastal spirit. Bottled at 52.7% ABV, with natural colour and no chill-filtration, this mature Islay single malt balances rich layers of dried fruit and sherry sweetness with warming spice, sea-kissed smoke, and a savoury, maritime edge. A complex and rewarding dram that marks a milestone in the distillery’s journey.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Aromatic and coastal, with waves of clove, cinnamon, and sultanas layered over sea spray and a briny, earthy peat.

Palate

Bold and textured. Juicy dark fruits meet cracked black pepper and a touch of salted liquorice, all wrapped in a soft, smoky embrace.

Finish

Lingering and indulgent, with notes of salted dark chocolate, spiced fruitcake, and glowing embers of smouldering oak.

A Word About Kilchoman

Opened in 2005, Kilchoman is one of the newest Scotch whisky distilleries. It is based on the site of Rockside Farm, on the west coast of Islay, and was the first distillery built on the island for over 120 years. All production takes place on the farm, including growing barley, malting and bottling.

Kilchoman produces classic Islay whiskies, with peaty and nutty flavours. The majority of the spirit is aged in ex-bourbon barrels, sourced from Buffalo Trace, while the remainder will spend time in Oloroso sherry casks.

Machir Bay and Sanaig are the two permanent offerings, but there are a variety of limited edition bottles available. This includes Cognac and Calvados finishes, as well as annual releases.
