Here we have a really incredible single cask selection from Kilchoman, bottled exclusively for House of Malt and a private HoM client; The Chase Collection. Distilled in 2007 this bottling is the oldest single cask Kilchoman released to date, a 13 year old fresh bourbon cask bottled on the stunning Islay farm distillery at a natural cask strength of 53.3%. This is a smoky whisky with a touch of underlying sweetness, it has aromas of custard creams and smoked almonds. The palate offers notes of white pepper, rich butter cream and barbecued honey roasted peanuts.
Only 236 of this rare whisky have been bottled.

This is my whisky of the year. It’s still a little rough around the edges and needs just the right amount of water but it rewards in so many ways! The flavours are amazing. Vivid and distinct without being overwhelming. Very addictive and one of those rare whiskies that stays with you long after the glass has been drained. Love it!!

Really impressed with this one! This tastes a little younger than it is with a slight graininess but it’s not distracting in any way. The 53% needs a fair amount of water to open it up so a staged process was time well spent. Hints of coal and TCP, peat and dried fruit on the nose initially die away and in the mouth quickly reveals a softer, slightly oily introduction. Smoke, dried fruit and then comes the custard cream sweetness which remains throughout the medium finish. I was genuinely excited by this iteration and upon finishing my dram immediately repeated the process. Loved it! With only 236 bottles released this might just be a future classic, it’s certainly a hidden gem of a whisky!

So good, tastes older than it is. 10/10!

My best Kilchoman yet, yes it’s not cheap; but you get what you pay for right? Creamy and thick with a fantastic mouthfeel, a good helping of peat and vanilla. Biscuits, buttery toast and bonfire! Superb.
