Ardnamurchan

The Ardnamurchan Distillery, based on the Highland peninsula of the same name, is a relatively new addition to the Scotch market. It was built by independent bottlers, Adelphi, in 2014 and is influenced by its remote and rugged position on the most westerly point of Britain.

Ardnamurchan produces both peated and unpeated whisky, which is typically aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry barrels. Expressions typically bring together flavours of fruit and smoke, as well as honey and vanilla.

Due to the young nature of their whisky, bottlings have previously come with codes that denote the vintage, rather than the age, such as the Ardnamurchan AD 09.22, which is a cask strength release. This has changed with the Ardnamurchan AD/, the first release from the distillery not to numbers.

This is an exciting time for Ardnamurchan and we can’t wait to see what else comes from them.
