Balblair

Located beside the Dornoch Firth, in northern Scotland, Balbair is a Highland whisky distillery that’s known for producing fruity and malty single malts.

The distillery was officially founded in 1790 by John Ross, making it one of the oldest brands in the country (although it’s believed that whisky was made illicitly on the site prior to this). Now owned by Inver House Distillers, Balblair maintains its traditional methods, utilising local natural resources, copper pot stills and small batch production.

Balblair whiskies are fruit-forward, with notes of citrus, toffee and spice. Releases used to carry vintages, but a recent redesign means bottles now have conventional age statements instead. The core range includes 12, 15, 18 and 21 year old expressions, although vintaged and independent bottlings can also be found from time to time.
