Cardhu

Founded in 1811 by infamous smuggler, John Cumming, Cardhu is a popular Speyside distillery with a rich and storied history.

It operated illicitly until the production of whisky was legalised in Scotland in 1824, before later being purchased by John Walker and Sons. It became a key component of Johnnie Walker blends and Diageo (who went on to acquire the distillery) still use the majority of the spirit for this reason. In fact, less than a third is bottled and sold under the Cardhu name.

The Cardhu range includes 12 year old and 15 year old expressions, while they also offer a no age statement release in the form of the Gold Reserve. Their style is typically soft and sweet, with fruity and malty undertones. Cardhu is especially popular in France and Spain.
