Glengoyne

Located in the picturesque Southern Highlands, at the base of Dumgoyne Hill, Glengoyne is a well-regarded distillery producing traditional Scotch whisky. It was initially founded as the Burnfoot Distillery in 1833, but has been operating under the Glengoyne name since 1906. It’s owned by Ian Macleod Distillers.

Glengoyne whiskies are distilled at the slowest rate in Scotland, at around five litres every minute. It’s thought that this slower process creates esters (a chemical compound) and this, in turn, leads to a sweeter and smoother spirit. This is then aged in sherry casks, which adds flavours of dried fruit, oak and spice.

The core range includes 10, 12, 15 and 18, 21 and 25 year old expressions – as well as a cask strength release. They also have the Legacy Series, which celebrates Sir Arthur John Tedder, an exciseman who inspired the distillery.
