Glenlossie

Glenlossie is a lesser-known Speyside distillery, albeit one with a long history. It was founded in 1896 by John Duff, a former manager at GlenDronach, who later launched Longmorn and BenRiach. Glenlosse is now owned by Diageo.

The distillery, based near Elgin, has six stills and takes its water from local springs. Their spirit is known for its light character, typically carrying notes of orchard fruits, honey and malt. As such, it is ideal for blends, and whisky from Glenlossie is almost exclusively used for Diageo-owned whiskies – such as Johnnie Walker.

Official bottlings of Glenlossie are rare and the only release is from Diageo’s Flora and Fauna range. It’s a 10 year old single malt that’s been aged in American oak casks. Other expressions can occasionally be found from independent bottlers.
