Lindores Abbey

Founded by Drew MacKenzie in 2017, here we have a distillery located on the site of the historic Lindores Abbey, which was home to Tironensian monks more than 800 years ago. Interestingly, the abbey is referred to in the first record of Scotch whisky in the exchequer roll, back in the 15th century, in a payment between King James IV and Friar John Cor.

The distillery is based in Fife and produces Lowland whiskies. While they waited for the stocks to mature, they released their Aqua Vitae, a young spirit drink combined with herbs and spices. The first single malt, the Lindores Abbey MCDXCIV, was finally launched in 2021 and has been aged in ex-bouron, sherry and red wine barrels. This was followed by the Casks of Lindores series, which experiments with different finishes.

It’s still early days for the Lindores Abbey Distillery, but we’re excited to see what else they produce.
