Lot 40

Lot 40 is a brand of Canadian whisky with a history that dates back to the 19th century. It takes its name from a plot of land in Ontario, where the farm of Joshua Boot, a distiller of the time, once stood. A descendent brought this whiskey back to life in the 1990s, before it was discontinued around a decade later. It has since been resurrected again, in 2013, and is made at the Hiram Walker & Sons Distillery in Windsor.

Lot 40 is a brand of rye whisky, made using 100% unmalted rye. They use a 12,000 litre copper pot still and maturation takes place in American oak barrels.

The flagship release is the Canadian Rye Small Batch Whisky, a classic rye whisky with floral, vanilla and spicey notes. There’s also the more intense Dark Oak, which has spent time in lightly charred and heavily charred barrels, leading to a richer and spicier profile.

This has developed quite a cult following and we’re delighted to see it back in production after a brief hiatus.
