Established in 1881, Bunnahabhain, meaning "mouth of the river" in Scots Gaelic, is celebrated for its gentle, unpeated style—a unique departure from Islay's typically smoky whiskies. The distillery’s remote coastal location and use of pure spring water contribute to its distinctive, smooth character.

This 12 year old single malt is the heart of the Bunnahabhain range, matured in a combination of sherry, bourbon, and refill casks. Unchillfiltered and bottled at 46.3% ABV, it delivers a rich and full-bodied profile that has become a favourite among whisky enthusiasts.

Tasting Notes

Nose

The aroma opens with a rich, sherried sweetness, offering notes of dried fruits such as raisins and sultanas. This is followed by layers of creamy toffee and caramel, accompanied by a hint of fresh vanilla.

Palate

As it develops, notes of milk chocolate and hints of dark coffee add richness, balanced by a soft spice—cinnamon and a touch of clove. There’s a gentle salinity running through, evoking the distillery’s coastal roots, which enhances the complexity without overpowering the flavours.
