Inspired by the historical import of casked port into Scotland during the nineteenth century, the spirit has then undergone a final maturation in the finest port pipes, from the Douro Valley in Portugal.The result is a rich, fruity whisky with sweet aromas of summer berries, cherry blossom and sweet honeysuckle, and a spicy ginger edge. The palate offers notes of apple crumble, wild berries and sweet gingerbread.

A Word About GlenDronach

GlenDronach is a Highland whisky distillery in Aberdeenshire. It was founded in 1826 by James Allardice and has a turbulent history that includes a fire, different owners and numerous periods of inactivity. It was bought by The BenRiach in 2008, which was subsequently acquired by Brown-Foreman (of Jack Daniel’s).

The distillery is known for its sherry-forward style. Using Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks for full maturation or finishing, GlenDronach single malts are fruity, dark in colour and have a full-bodied character.

The core range offers aged expressions, such as the 12, 15 and 18 year olds, as well as cask strength releases. There’s also a peated bottling, which is a diversion from the brand’s usual style.
