GlenAllachie

Opened in 1967 for the sole purpose of contributing to blends, Glenallachie is a relatively modern Speyside distillery at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Banffshire.

The spirit, aged in ex-bourbon barrels, was originally used in MacKinley blends, before the distillery was acquired by Campbell Distillers (a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard) in the late 1980s. It subsequently became a key component of Chivas Brothers blended whiskies.

In 2017, Glenallachie was purchased by a consortium led by ex-BenRiach MD, Billy Walker, and the brand has started to make a name in its own right.

A first core range was released in 2018, which included 8 year old, 12 year old, 15 year old expressions. Interestingly, these releases represented a left turn from the distillery, as it began maturing its whisky in sherry casks. In addition to this range, they also offer limited edition and small batch offerings, such as those from their Virgin Oak series.
