The Lakes Distillery

Find a selection of artisan spirits from The Lakes Distillery here at House of Malt. Opened in 2014 on an idyllic rural site near Bassenthwaite, this independent distillery not only boasts its own bistro and distillery tours, but also produces three premium spirits: gin, vodka, and whisky. Browse the collections online today and discover your new favourite tipple.

Using fresh water from the river Derwent and classic botanicals native to the Cumbrian fells like juniper, bilberry, heather, and meadowsweet, The Lakes gin is an authentic, locally made spirit. Their rhubarb and rosehip gin has been a particularly popular release, as well as delectable flavours like elderflower and pink grapefruit (the latter of which received a Gold Outstanding award at the 2022 International Wine and Spirit competition).

The Lakes vodka collection also makes the most of its surrounding resources, using the finest British wheat and pure water from the Lake District National Park. As well as their original recipe — which is perfect for cocktails or simply sipping over ice — their salted caramel vodka is also a firm favourite for those looking for a sweeter tipple.

However, if you prefer a dram of single malt or blended whisky, we also stock a wide selection of The Lakes Distillery whisky. Presided over by whisky-maker Dhavall Gandhi, they have produced creative ranges such as The ONE, which experiments with sherry, port, and orange wine casks. Or, for the connoisseurs among us, why not treat yourself to a bottle of Whiskymaker’s Reserve or sample the premium Quatrefoil Collection?
