By 1998, Ardbeg resumed production, focusing on quality and tradition while introducing innovative expressions. This unique expression is created from some of the very first spirit of the new millennium, It’s also some of the last liquid made in the still that Ardbeg used for 51 years before retiring it in 2001. So as the world celebrated the turn of the millennium, many distilleries shut down in fear of the elusive millennium bug. However, at Ardbeg, one dedicated stillman chose to stay up through the night, keeping the stills running and quietly creating the distillery's first spirit of the new millennium while the rest of the world partied outside.
