Only a precious 101 decanters could be extracted from this 42 Year Old Single Cask. A fourth fill Oloroso Sherry hogshead cask brought the liquid to maturity, with a considerable angel’s share lowering both the ABV and volume. Bottled at cask strength 48.6%ABV and natural colour, this is an expressive and unique whisky. Glenfarclas is a family owned distillery with records dating over 150 years and producing whisky on-site in excess of 220 years. The 1970s was a turbulent but crucial part of Glenfarclas’ history, with labour unrest across the country making production difficult. Casks from this period are deceiving on the eye; light in appearance, their colour belies a whisky that is packed with real complexity of aromas and flavours.
