Nestled in the heart of Ayrshire, the Lochlea Distillery has been quietly perfecting the art of whisky-making on the same fertile land once farmed by the renowned poet, Robert Burns. This connection to Scotland's bard adds a poetic depth to their spirits, and the Lochlea Sowing Third Crop is no exception. Matured exclusively in 100% fresh 1st-fill ex-Bourbon barrels, this release builds on the legacy of its predecessor, the Sowing Edition (Second Crop), with barrels that are 9 months older. This careful selection of older casks enhances the depth and complexity of the whisky, while ensuring a richer infusion of the bourbon cask characteristics.

Tasting Notes

Nose

A delightful aroma of sweet vanilla and toffee. This sweetness is beautifully balanced with notes of fresh orchard fruits and a hint of floral honey.

The finish is long and satisfying, with a persistence of warm vanilla and a slight nuttiness. The bourbon cask influence leaves a soft, mellow sweetness on the tongue, coupled with a gentle spice that rounds out the experience.
